[Makoto worried about his surprise at first, now he felt better after seeing Kouhei so happy.]
Sure! I'll be over in a few minutes!
[Makoto made sure he didn't have anything to do so they could spend the day together. His heart beat faster as he grabbed the gift bag with Kouhei's gift inside. Well, gifts he hoped he got the right books. Makoto checked everything one more time before he left his apartment.
It wouldn't take him long to get to Kouhei's apartment.]
[Trying to pull himself together in such a short amount of time is a little nervewracking, but Kouhei is thankfully the type to keep his apartment neat and make sure his appearance isn't too sloppy. Brushing his hair and his teeth is all he really has time to do before the ever-familiar blare of his specialized doorbell sounds throughout the apartment, and sure enough, Makoto is standing there with a smile when he opens the door.
Normally, Kouhei would at least give him time to set his bag down, but he simply can't help himself - it's too hard to resist leaning down to hug him in the doorway, ears already flushed slightly pink.]
[Makoto is ready to hold his bag up when Kouhei's arms are around him in a hug. His cheeks flushed as he gently dropped the bag by him and wrapped his arms around Kouhei's neck. He's so happy that he's able to celebrate his birthday with him. After all the crazy things that's been happening with the city, being able to have this moment with him felt very good.]
You're welcome. I hope you'll like them.
[Makoto hasn't let go of Kouhei, he doesn't want to just yet. Even if his ears are starting to turn red to match his cheeks.]
I'm sure I will. You didn't need to get me anything in the first place, so...
[Maybe he should be a little more concerned about the bag, but Makoto wouldn't have dropped it if its contents were fragile, so it's probably okay to enjoy this embrace and push any prospective guilt aside. Though they may be in the doorway, Kouhei isn't quite as embarrassed or nervous as he would have been in the past.... So with Makoto's arms draped securely around his neck, he doesn't pull his own arms back, and instead chooses to rest his cheek in Makoto's hair.]
[Makoto felt they should probably head inside too, but it's hard to concentrate on that when Kouhei's warm arms are around him. Of course, he had to get something for his birthday. It was a very special day after all. Makoto isn't nearly as nervous either as he enjoyed their embrace for a little while longer. Makoto shook his head with a soft laugh.]
It's alright. I'd love to.
[He slowly leaned away as he picked up the bag with one hand and took Kouhei's hand in another on his way inside.]
[It's almost laughable how difficult it is to part from such a simple embrace, but it's the reason behind it that matters. Having Makoto remember his birthday means more than Kouhei can put into words, since he'd probably only mentioned the date once or twice at the most, and that was easily many months ago...
Still, they do have to part to get inside, and Kouhei steps back to close the door behind them before walking toward the living room hand in hand.]
Honestly, I couldn't want anything more than this... Spending time with you is all I wanted to do today.
[Makoto beamed up at him before settling against him again. Of course, Makoto made sure to remember Kouhei's birthday. He was going to make sure they celebrated even during the time he convinced himself that they would only stay friends, he wanted to celebrate his birthday. It's a very important day after all! He didn't want to leave the hug either, but they do have to go inside. However, getting to hold Kouhei's hand is very nice too. It doesn't stop his cheeks from heating up at the sweet words.]
R-Really? That's what you wanted?
[He doesn't know what to say to something so sweet and honest like that.]
[Even back home in Japan, his birthday was just like any other day. His mom would bake him a cake and celebrate to the extent that Kouhei was willing, which honestly wasn't much. But now he has not only friends, but someone special. Isn't spending time with that person the greatest gift of all?
Makoto's reddening cheeks make Kouhei flush slightly in return as his pace slows to a halt, slightly embarrassed over how sappy his words must sound. Now that they're in the living room, he doesn't mind facing Makoto fully, sheepish as he may look.]

Sure! That sounds good to me. Maybe we could order out or something well we can think about it.
When should I come over?

Not that I'm including my birthday in that, of course. It usually isn't a big deal to me, but having you remember is...
Ahhh, what should I do... I'm so happy. I wasn't expecting anything like this.
I'm not doing anything right now, if you want to head over. But I'm free the whole night, so whatever works for you is good for me.
